So I was pretty excited for this movie and I enjoyed it! It was about what I expected it to be. A pair of complete dysfunctional psychopaths doing amoral things, but the way it's written, you almost start to root for them. It was almost like that, except I always hated Clyde without fail. He was such an awful, obnoxious man and I just wasn't having it; I did like Bonnie, though. The way she was written almost made her cute and endearing, even though she was totally crazy. She was sweet and pretty, and I thought her acting was very good. She was pretty much the only character I really liked, though, and I felt bad for her even though she brought about all her own problems. It was totally an unhealthy relationship (putting all the thievery and murder aside) and I feel like she would have done a lot better staying home.
So let's talk about some non-diegetic elements. First, I think there may have literally been one, maybe two tracks on the entire score for the film. Sure they were good, but it got a little reparative after every time they ran away the same thing playing. That seemed a little lame, but anyways, the opening titles and closing titles both were amazing at setting up the film and ending it in stunned silence.
There was one scene I thought was very creative; when the gang was running away from the cops and very now and then the music would stop to show somebody being interviewed about them, and then continue where it left off after. I thought it was funny and clever, and well-edited. I also loved the scene where Bonnie was sad about her mother and Clyde comforted her; it was actually almost healthy for them, and I thought it was sweet. And to end it, the scene where they died was brutal. It was so tense with all the fast cuts and you had to watch the whole thing of them dying. It did a really good job of horrifying the audience and then leaving them stunned as the rest of the movie was all silent till the credits. So even though the ending made me sad, it was really well done. This is definitely a movie worth watching.
Warnings for Bonnie and Clyde: very very violent and bloody, but that's about it
